Cleveland's NASA Glenn Research Center is collaborating with Emergency Products + Research to revamp their portable surface decontamination system, AMBUstat, to help fight the COVID-19 virus. Revamping AMBUstat will help kill pathogens like coronavirus that hitch rides on particles that float in the air. The original system will now be marketed as AMBUstat G1 while the new system will be known as AMBUstat G2.

NASA has joined the fight against COVID-19 by leveraging the ingenuity of their workforce to help with the national crisis. In addition to developing a new high-pressure ventilator and an oxygen helmet, engineers at NASA partnered with Emergency Products + Research in 2015 to create AMBUstat, a small, portable surface decontamination system that kills airborne and surface particles in small spaces such as ambulances and police cars. Now, NASA is conducting further research to use the device on COVID-19.
